Chris's Version:

I was asked to come to learn about a ministry called Singles for Christ (SFC) back in March 2005. One of my best friends Charlton and I decided to check it out. I saw this cute girl with glasses and the one thing that stuck out was her contagious laugh. It wasn’t until she played the guitar and sang that I became intrigued. It was to my dismay that she had a boyfriend so I left it at that and moved on.

It wasn’t until my first SFC conference in Orlando that we became good friends. Ironically she was trying to hook me with a crush I had at the conference. Obviously that didn’t work out. After conference we became good friends and constantly helped her with her school work and projects. Our friendship continued to grow and little did we know our lives were about to change.

It was one day that Christie told me the unfortunate (but for me fortunate) news that she was now single. I was a little saddened by this but at the same time happy. During a Colorado ski trip in December, I got this crazy idea about playing some song for her, “Just Friends” by Musiq Soulchild. This was one of my favorite songs and it reminded me of her every time I heard it. I played it for her and the lyrics basically told her the way I felt. I really just wanted for her to listen to the song but as cheesy as this sounds we locked eyes as the song played and Christie realized what I was trying to tell her. Here’s a little excerpt of the lyrics:

Girl I know this might seem strange
But let me know if Im out of order
For stepping to you this way
See Ive been watching you for a while
And I just gotta let you know
That Im really feeling your style
Cause I have to know your name
And leave you with my number
And I hope that you would call me someday
If you want you can give me yours too
And if you dont well I aint mad atcha
We can still be cool cause

Im not trying to pressure you
Just cant stop thinkin bout you
You aint even really gotta be my girlfriend
I just wanna know your name
And maybe some time
We can hook up, hang out, just chill

We dated off and on but being that her parents were very traditional, I told her that we couldn’t become official until I talked to her parents and tell them that I would be courting their daughter. We went to dinner with her parents on July 12, 2006 and told them my intentions. They were very supportive but the loving parents they are, they told us to continue praying. Coincidently this has kept us together and allowed us to grow intimately.

Christie's Version:

We met March 2005 at Notre Dame Catholic Church during Chris's CLP for Singles for Christ. We became good friends after the SFC Conference in Orlando, Florida. Ironically I was helping him with his crush at that time. Our friendship developed over time and Chris helped me a lot with my school work and projects.

During a Colorado ski trip, Chris finally told me how he felt through his favorite song "Just Friends" by Musiq Soulchild. We soon became more than 'just friends'.

We soon started dating off and on but finally made it official on July 12, 2006 after a dinner with my parents. It was then when Chris told my parents that we are together and that he has all the intentions of marrying me. He kept his promise and asked me...
